These pieces are part of the artist’s new series, NOOR (An Arabic word meaning light and which symbolizes spiritual enlightenment). It’s an extension of the craft—one that lets marbling do something new: interact with light. It becomes functional and yet remains deeply artistic. Every shade is made from hand-marbled paper, which means no two are ever the same.
The artist’s Ebru practice is centered on honoring tradition. More recently, the artist has found meaning in taking this historic process and finding space for it in the present. It’s a quiet form of cultural preservation—making sure these centuries-old techniques don’t just survive, but grow, evolve, and continue to inspire.
